The Push: How It All Started
In 2023 and 2024, I had the opportunity to design a knife called "Dako" for Kansept Knives. That experience, the fine tuning of the design, making countless adjustments, and working with some amazing people in the industry was the final push I needed to take the leap and start our own brand. However, I knew that bringing this vision to life wouldn’t be a solo effort.
That’s where Luke came in. Luke has always had a passion for making high quality products more accessible. Though he wasn’t as knife obsessed as I am, he’s always understood the value of a well-crafted tool. His years of using knives for outdoor adventures and everyday tasks shaped his belief that quality products shouldn’t be out of reach for anyone. So, when I pitched the idea of starting a knife company, Luke immediately saw the potential to bring premium craftsmanship to more people at an accessible price.
The Vision: Accessibility Meets Quality
Luke and I combined our strengths to turn our idea into reality. His drive to make quality products accessible blended seamlessly with my expertise in knife design and craftsmanship. From the start, we knew that offering top-tier knives at accessible prices would require an in-depth approach to production. That’s why we are deeply selective in who we work with for manufacturing, speaking to and collaborating with experts across the globe. This commitment to finding the right partners allows us to ensure both exceptional craftsmanship and affordability. Our goal has always been to make sure everyone, EVERYONE! can enjoy a well made knife without breaking the bank.
The Work: Turning the Dream Into Reality
After laying out our vision, we got to work. And when we say work, we mean work. Bringing a knife design to life is no easy task. It took countless sketches, endless ideas, and late night brainstorming sessions. We also exchanged over 1,000 emails with manufacturers to make sure every detail was just right.
All that effort finally came together when we launched our first two models: the Callisto and Fornax. These knives are more than just products to us. They represent the countless hours of hard work, dedication, and lessons learned. They’re the foundation of our brand and will always be key parts of the Orbital Knives story.
The Future: What’s Next for Orbital Knives
The Callisto and Fornax taught us invaluable lessons, but we’re not stopping there. We have a ton of exciting projects and ideas in the pipeline, and we’re constantly pushing ourselves to innovate and improve. Through it all, we remain committed to our core mission: making exceptional knives.
