Our First Fixed Blade - The Apophis

Our First Fixed Blade - The Apophis

First of all, this is a prototype, and everything you’re about to read reflects a design that is still in its early stages. That said, we’re incredibly excited to finally introduce our first fixed blade. The knife is named Apophis, after the asteroid discovered in 2004 that was once believed to have a real chance of striking Earth. The name felt fitting, something small, but with great capacity.

Apophis Design Process

When I started working on this design, my goal was very specific: I wanted the Apophis to live comfortably in two worlds. I didn’t want a fixed blade that leaned too far into “hard use survival,” nor did I want something so minimal that it became impractical outdoors. The result is a hybrid: a true EDC fixed blade that can still hold its own in the field.

Most of the design decisions stem from that balance.

The handle design follows the same philosophy. It’s intentionally slim and relatively short, not because we wanted to cut corners, but because comfort in everyday carry matters. A bulky handle might feel good in extreme scenarios, but it often becomes the reason a knife gets left behind. The Apophis is designed to disappear when you’re carrying it, yet still lock into the hand confidently when it’s time to work.

One of the key design elements is the jimping, which is placed to support multiple use cases. It provides added control for everyday cutting tasks, while also offering a forward grip option that works well for skinning and other outdoor uses. This allows the knife to adapt easily from EDC to field work without overcomplicating the design.

Blade length, profile, and proportions were all kept tight and purposeful. Nothing here is exaggerated. Every line exists to serve function first, with aesthetics naturally following. The overall silhouette is clean, aggressive without being loud, and practical without feeling boring.

Where The Apophis Stands Now

Because this is still a prototype, everything is open to refinement. This stage is about testing, feedback, and real world use. The Apophis represents the beginning of our journey into fixed blades, not a final statement, but a foundation. It’s us learning, pushing, and applying the same "design first" mindset that defines everything we build.

Sadly, I am wondering if I should have waited a little longer to tell you guys about this design haha, I am already getting a lot of requests to sell the prototypes... but we need them to learn and adjust as much as possible. In the mean time, please check our current line up here, if you still got the itch to treat yourself ;)

Thank you all so much for the support!
