Our Collaboration with a Forged in Fire Champion

Our Collaboration with a Forged in Fire Champion

About a year ago, through a mutual friend, we had the privilege of meeting Brandon Williams, a talented bladesmith based right here in Blackfoot, Idaho. Little did we know, a Forged in Fire Champion was crafting incredible knives just down the road from us. If we had known sooner, we would have connected with him years ago.

Brandon started making knives over a decade ago, and he now owns the 4B Outdoors brand. Over time, his dedication to the craft led to unparalleled expertise in designing and forging blades that are not only functional but truly exceptional. His skill earned him national recognition in 2018, when he was crowned a Forged in Fire Champion on Season 5, Episode 35 of the hit series.

When we first connected, it didn’t take long to realize that a collaboration was inevitable. The idea of merging Brandon’s artistry with our vision for unique, standout pieces was simply too good to pass up. Thus, the Halo was born.

The Halo Fixed Blade Collaboration is simply a modification of one of Brandon's popular designs, the "Mini Snake River."

As seen in the picture above, the Mini Snake River is a great fixed blade piece that doesn't need any modifications to be extremely functional. A drop point blade is a popular shape for a reason, it just works. We can definitely say this is the design the Halo was born out of. If you would like to get a Snake River or Mini Snake River model in the handle material of your choice, feel free to contact Brandon directly through his Facebook Page, 4B Outdoors. Trust us, you will be happy you did.

So, how did we modify an already great design? We just changed the blade shape from a drop point to a clip point. It is not secret that at Orbital Knives we love some great clip point blades, as seen in our Callisto model. But we like to see them in that straight fashion, and Brandon simply nailed it.

The shape came out awesome, and of course, full tang is the best way to do it. Also, Brandon knows 1095 very well, and has a stellar heat treatment formula to make the steel an incredible performer.

We then looked at handle materials, and of course stabilized maple burl looked like an excellent choice, and we were right. Just look at that finished product.

FYI: That picture was taken before the blade got lasered.
Our vision with the Halo Fixed Blade is to keep bring it to you guys, in different variations. Of course, a hand made piece will always be unique, but we mean to say that we will aim for different materials, and price points. However, this is the first one. Definitely a knife that is special to us.

We’re thrilled to share this collaboration with you and can’t wait to see how the Halo series evolves. Stay tuned for more stunning designs from our partnership with Brandon Williams and 4B Outdoors. Whether you’re a collector, an outdoor enthusiast, or simply someone who appreciates fine craftsmanship, the Halo knife is sure to make an impression.
