Missing Blade Show ATL This Year

Missing Blade Show ATL This Year

Honestly, it’s a little sad… but also very exciting.

One thing we’ve learned while building Orbital is that every decision comes with tradeoffs. That applies to knife design, materials, production timelines, and especially business growth.

As the company continues to grow, we’ve had to become more intentional about where our resources go and what decisions create the most long term value for both the brand and the people supporting it.

Blade Show is an incredible experience, and we’re grateful for the memories, conversations, and support we’ve received there. I have tons of friends that I only get to see once a year at this event... and it sucks to have to miss it. It also would have been a great opportunity to showcase the Large Callisto to more people.

But this year, after a lot of discussion, we decided the smarter move was to stay home and redirect those resources into inventory and product development.

Simply put: we would rather put those funds into making more knives available.

As many of you know, Orbital has been growing quickly. Between the response to the Large Callisto, continued interest in the original Callisto, upcoming collaborations, and upcoming projects we’re working on behind the scenes, we felt this was the right time to focus heavily on strengthening inventory, improving availability, and continuing to refine future releases.

That decision reflects something important about how we view growth.

Growth is exciting, but healthy growth requires discipline.

Sometimes the best decisions are not the loudest ones. Sometimes the best decision is the one that improves lead times, supports future production runs, strengthens operations, and helps get more knives into customers’ hands.

That mindset influences everything we do.

It influences how we approach quality control. It influences how we approach design compromises. It influences how we choose materials, manufacturing partners, and future projects. And ultimately, it influences how we build Orbital as a long term brand instead of chasing short term excitement. For us, the product always comes first.

We’re still incredibly excited for what’s ahead.

The Large Callisto has been a huge milestone for us. Seeing people carry and use the knives we designed is something we’ll never take for granted. Projects like the Fornax and upcoming releases have pushed us and taught us a lot about what we want Orbital to become moving forward.

And while we’ll miss being at Blade Show this time around, staying home is not a step backward for us.

It’s an investment into the next chapter of Orbital Knives.
